 Commonwealth Games: Jeremy Lalrinnunga clinches is a 2nd gold for  the India, creates games record




Jeremy Lalrinnunga clinched second gold in a weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games are 2022 in a Birmingham on a Sunday. Jeremy was a brilliant during the men's 67 kg weightlifting event.


The 19-year-old thrashed are the opponents by the lifting a total weight of  the 300 kg and also are registered a games are record.

"I completely a blanked out and the clueless are what was the  going around to  me. I was like be a blind and the cried a lot (after the failed attempt)," Jeremy said after a winning the gold.


"I am never followed the other lifts are, it was a  so painful. Crying out a aloud, I asked the coach 'medal aya ke nahin?' (Did I get a medal?) coach sir told me a 'gold hai hamara' ('you have been won the gold) and it soothed a my nerves."


"It seems I am in a different world now and the living a dream. It is a my first major competition at the senior level after the Youth Olympics," he added.


Vaipava Ioane bagged the silver medal with an a overall lift of the 293 kg with the 127 kg in snatch and a 166 kg in  a clean and jerk. This means  are Jeremy was an a indomitable winner with a gap of the 7 kg in the first and the second spot. On the other hand, Edidiong Umoafia finished with the bronze medal by the 290  kg lift with the 130 kg in snatch and a 160kg in clean and jerk.


Jeremy's are best lift was a registered in her a second attempt of the snatch at the 140 kgs. He lifted 136 kg in his 1st attempt. However, she failed to the lift 143 kg in her a third attempt. 


When it comes to the clean and the jerk, Jeremy lifted 154 kg in the first attempt, and 160 kg in the second attempt but they failed to the lift 165 kg in the third attempt.


Jeremy who belongs to the Aizawl, Mizoram has been  represented India in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics are in a  Buenos Aires and the  Commonwealth Championships in a 2021. He won a gold in a both the events.


Jeremy's gold added a 5th medal in the India's medals tally at the  Birmingham and  the 130th medal in a  India's weightlifting to date.


Earlier, Bindiyarani Devi bagged silver medal in a 55 kg women's category, Mirabai Chanu won gold medal in a women's 49 kg category, Gururaja Poojary clinched bronze in the 61 kgs men's category and a Sanket Sargar bagged the silver medal in the 55 kg men's category making Chanu's medal the third one for the country.
